Course Description:

The focus of this class is to target the core muscles to understand the structure and function.  In addition, training of activation of core muscles in a systemic method will be introduced in the class. Recent emphasis of exercise has been on the deep core muscles and their roles in dynamic stability. The design of the class is to learn the core muscle through understanding their structure, biomechanics and function.

 

General Objectives of the Course:

After completing this course, the students would be able to

1.      Understand the structure and function of core muscles.

2.      Understand the biomechanics and motor control of spine stability.

3.      Understand the role of deep muscles in spinal stability and movement.

4.      Apply the core muscle principle in daily activities. 終身學習 (Life-long learning)

Report:

oral and written 40%

A written report is a systemic review on the topic related to core muscle training according to the format of Formosan Physical Therapy Journal.
